Leaving the bustling atmosphere of Motueka behind this section of Tasman's Great Taste Trail takes you through the beautiful fruit and hops growing area of the region and on to the picturesque seaside holiday mecca, and one of New Zealand’s favourite beaches, Kaiteriteri.

This section of the cycle trail starts 1km South of central Motueka on Old Wharf Road. You follow Old Wharf Road out to the coast before turning left onto Motueka Quay, and past the wreck of the Janie Seddon. This section winds its way along the sea front before turning left onto Staples Street. A right turn then takes you onto Lyndhurst Drive, over The Motueka River bridge, right on to Lodder Lane and into Riwaka, where you can take a break and get some refreshments.

Leaving Riwaka alongside State Highway 60, you take a right turn onto Goodall Road, over two bridges, then you wind your way through apple and kiwifruit orchards and over another specially built suspension bridge. The trail meanders along between the road and coastline giving you wonderful vistas of the Tasman Bay as you climb a little. After passing through an underpass you enter the Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park and the trail changes to a swooping, rolling style that is a change in pace and very enjoyable to ride. There are a couple of inclines to ride up, but these are short so feel free to use the opportunity to hop off your bike and stretch your legs.

A gentle descent through the Park brings you out onto Martin Farm Road, where a right turn, followed by a left, takes you to the beach and your destination, Kaiteriteri.
