On Road

This is an alternative shorter road ride to Wakefield. You will ride through rolling countryside and picturesque farmland on quiet country roads. The trail goes through the tiny settlement of Dovedale and on to the gravel road climb up to the summit of the Dovedale hill.

This is a longer climb that will take most riders about half an hour of honest effort to get to the top. The gradient is not too steep, so just find a gear that works for you and keep peddling.

After cresting the top of the hill take care on the gravel road descent into Pigeon Valley. If you are riding on a weekday please take extra care and always stay left, as this is a forestry access road used by logging trucks.

Head down through pleasant rural scenery to the village of Wakefield and a enjoy a well-earned rest and re-fuel, the Rhubarbe Café or The Bakery @ Wakefield are great choices.
