The Baton House, a charming off-grid replica of the Baton Hotel of the 1860s, specialises in groups of 4-10 riders for 2+ night stays only - we're a destination, not a stopover! We offer comfy beds, and nourishing meals, but also a longer visit to experience this incredible valley.
Your stay includes a tour taking in our restored wetland, Tōtara plantation, and a taste of the wilds of Kahurangi National Park, either on foot or bike. We’ll tell you about our special local ecology and introduce you to some of our neighbours. (hint; they are not human). And we suggest you also take some time to rest, read and rejuvenate.
15.5km from the Baton bridge at Woodstock, we are beyond all traffic and cellphone reception. Aaaah. All rooms have ensuites; optional morning stretch sessions; fantastic summer swimming holes; hot tub and relaxation massage on request. Self catering, tipi stay or camping, and ‘hands on help’ with our native planting program, are also options.
