The Baton House Experience
The Baton House is a charming off-grid replica of the original Baton Hotel of the 1860s, offering a unique opportunity to slow down and experience the remarkable Baton Valley.
We specialise in groups of 4–10 riders in our 4 bedroom house. Your stay includes comfortable beds and nourishing meals (or self catering), as well as time to explore, relax, and experience this special part of the Nelson Tasman region. We’d love you to stay for 2 nights!
During your stay we can introduce you to the valley’s unique ecology with an optional tour of our restored wetland and tōtara plantation, with the opportunity to experience a taste of the wilds of Kahurangi National Park on foot or by bike. Or simply rest, read, swim, and rejuvenate.
Located 15.5km from Baton Bridge at Woodstock, The Baton House is beyond the traffic and cellphone reception — a chance to properly disconnect and enjoy the peace and quiet of the valley.
All rooms have ensuites, with optional morning stretch sessions, fantastic summer swimming holes, a hot tub, and relaxation massage available on request.
For those wanting a different experience our tipi is available in summer months, and tent camping is also an option. You can even get hands-on and help with our native planting programme during your stay.
